Partners' Community Services program provides assistance to the general population in Sheboygan County through various services to help them achieve their potential, by improving their economic situation, increase their knowledge and education, developing their skills, and promoting their integration into the Sheboygan community. Due to the increase of the diverse population from other countries, the program strives to provide assistance in Spanish and Hmong for those that may need it.
The program will assist the community through Employment Placement Services to assist them in conducting successful job searches and have a job opportunity that can improve the family financial condition increasing their knowledge and skills. The program will also help the eligible population providing citizenship classes to assist them to prepare for the Naturalization interview, and assisting to the immigrant community with some immigration processes that are helpful to achieve their legal status and increase the access to services, employment, and health. The information and referral services provided to our clients offer successful resolution to problems they are facing by strengthening families and becoming involved and more confident individuals; also through educational sessions and workshops providing health, financial, cultural, and legal information helpful for the general community in English, Spanish, and Hmong.
Our Employment Placement Services assists o a diverse population in Sheboygan County conducting successful job search. The staff and volunteers will help individuals identify their work preferences, match job skills with current labor market needs, improving interview techniques and develop solid resumes with the goal of successfully placing them in the workforce.
- Prepare a job search plan.
- Clarify career goals and develop an understanding of the current job market and requisite skill.
- Utilize on-site resources to seek employment.
- Develop resumes, cover letters, thank you notes and references.
- Schedule a practice interviews with professional business representatives.
- Arrange for interview appointments and interpreter services.
- Follow up with job leads and provide on-the-job support.
- Foster self-advocacy and navigate the job hunt process.
Translation and Interpretation Services in Spanish
Provide verbal interpretation for their appointments, phone calls, and/or meetings to facilitate the communication and breaking the language barrier. The translation services are also available for those families that may need to translate documents to English/Spanish.
Provide assistance people eligible to become U.S. Citizen and exercise their right to vote. The citizenship classes will help them to prepare for the USCIS interview, teach them American History and Government, and inform them about the rights as a U.S. citizen. The process of naturalization is an important part of the curriculum. Volunteers from the community will assist with interviews. Practice for the interview is also incorporated into the regular citizenship classes, this is usually in the form of role play with fellow students.
Information and Referral Services
Provide assistance to the community in Sheboygan County to access services and resources needed to improve their lifestyle, strengthening their families and become participatory, self-sufficient and productive citizen of the community. The program is committed to successful resolution to problems. The program will assist the community to refer them to other agencies to receive assistance and also provides information through sessions and information workshops in immigration process, housing, financial and budgeting advice, health care and nutrition, and cultural events to promote integration and awareness in the community.
